This module has been created by the Virtual College, in partnership with the British Compressed Air Society (BCAS). The course has been written by experts in the industry and is accredited by British Compressed Air Society (BCAS) the UK trade association for suppliers and users of compressed air products and services, and has been developed in partnership with Virtual College as an e-learning course. Successful candidates are awarded a BCAS certificate.
Compressed air is an essential source of power for business and industry, and its generation accounts for at least 10% of industrial electricity. The Certificate in Compressed Air System Technology (CAST) provides a comprehensive introduction to the main principles of compressed air systems. It has been developed by BCAS in partnership with Virtual College as a unique qualification to meet the needs of employers for compressed air training.
Each module includes learning activities supported by Flash animated graphics and interactive challenges. There is an online multi-choice assessment on completion of each module.
The course comprises 10 modules, to provide a comprehensive introduction to the main principles and uses of modern compressed air systems.

There will be no face-to-face sessions with instructors nor will you receive any training material through the post. The material for this course has been broken down into several smaller lessons, each lesson dealing with a specific area of the overall subject.
The lesson consists of a series of pages in which an instructor will talk you through the lesson material at a pace that suits you. Pages may also include supporting pictures, graphs, animation or extra sounds to help with the learning where appropriate. Some lessons will include challenges/quizzes to help you keep in touch and interested in the material.
Lessons can be taken in any order and each lesson may be PAUSED and RESUMED at any stage. When all lessons in the course have been completed our system will realise and automatically record that you have successfully completed the course
The course is self-paced so you decided how fast or slow the training goes. This course will take approximately 10-15 hours to complete, however you can complete the course in stages revisiting the training at any time.
